How to Lose Weight Fast With Kettlebells for Women

Russian fitness enthusiasts designed the kettlebell centuries ago, but its popularity is on the rise all over the world with elite athletes and casual fitness buffs alike. Kettlebell workouts are ideal for women looking to lose weight fast, as they provide a great challenge for your cardiovascular system, increase your muscular strength and burn loads of calories, which will help you on your way to a leaner, fitter body.

Step 1
Base your workout around compound exercises. Compound exercises are ones which require the movement of more than one muscle or joint. In kettlebell training, these include swings, snatches, cleans, presses, high pulls and many others. Compound exercises require much more effort, so burn more calories and stimulate the release of more hormones, which can lead to greater weight loss.

Step 2
Pick three or four exercises and perform them using the tabata protocol in one weekly session. Tabata involves performing as many repetitions as possible on a single exercise for 20 seconds, you then rest for 10 seconds and repeat again seven times. According to strength coach Nick Tumminello, tabatas are great for speeding up fat loss and improving your aerobic conditioning. Rest for three minutes between each exercise.

Step 3
Set up a circuit consisting of goblet squats, suitcase deadlifts, single arm presses and renegade rows in your other two kettlebell workouts each week. Do between five and eight repetitions on each exercise, using fairly heavy kettlebells, and repeat the circuit four times. You may also wish to perform some light aerobic work such as skipping in between rounds to keep your heart rate up.

Step 4
Keep your rest periods as low as you can, without compromising performance. Trainer John Romaniello writes in his article "The Five Principles of Radical Fat Loss" that to lose fat, you should aim to do more work in less time, which means keeping rest periods low. Rest just enough that you can complete your next set with good technique, but not so much that you are completely recovered.

How to Use the Gym Ball for Weight Loss

A good exercise plan should consist of aerobic and anaerobic activity, all of which can be done at home on a gym ball. Aerobic exercises help to get your heart rate up and burn calories. Weight loss is a result of a deficit of calories: 1 pound equals 3,500 calories. Anaerobic exercises build and strengthen muscles.

Step 1
Put the ball on ground, sit down in front of the ball and lean back on the ball for balance then slightly lift your legs off the ground and make a bicycle movement with your legs. Repeat this motion until you have reached the time goal you have set for yourself.

Step 2
Stand in front of a wall with legs shoulder-width apart. Place the ball behind your back and lean back against the wall. Lower yourself into a squat, then return to the standing position. This will help to build your glute and quad muscles. Complete three sets of 12 to 15 repetitions.

Step 3
Place the ball on the floor, roll your body onto the ball until the ball is balanced under your stomach and you are in a plank position. Lower yourself into the prone position by bending the arms then return yourself to upright position and repeat. This will target the deltoid, pectoral and tricep muscles. Complete three sets of 12 to 15 repetitions.

Step 4
Place your hands on the ball in front of you. Roll forward slowly, rolling the ball out as far as you can without breaking the straight line of your back. Push your elbows into the ball and contract your abs to pull yourself back to the starting position. Repeat 12 to 15 times for three sets.

Elevating a Treadmill to Lose Bottom & Stomach Fat

While it is not possible to spot-reduce to get rid of stomach and bottom fat, exercising regularly on an elevated treadmill will help you burn calories and lose weight in your entire body. Pairing a vigorous treadmill workout with a low-calorie diet helps you burn fat from all over your body, including that stubborn fat on your belly and bum.

Elevating a Treadmill

Elevating a treadmill, also referred to as increasing the incline of a treadmill, is designed to help simulate the running of hills and other elevated terrain. Running up hills burns calories at a higher rate than running on a flat surface because of the increased effort required by your legs and cardiovascular system. Increasing the incline on a treadmill mimics and provides similar benefits as running up hills. To elevate your treadmill, simply push up on the incline arrow on your treadmill to raise the front of the platform and increase the angle at which you are running.

Speed and Distance

If your primary goal is to lose weight on the treadmill, elevating the treadmill is one of several elements that go into the overall reduction of your weight. Increasing your distance while running on a treadmill takes more time. This longer workout increases the amount of calories you end up burning overall. Speed is another element that can help you burn calories at a faster rate. As your speed increases, your body burns more calories because it is working harder to keep all of your muscles moving at a faster pace. Increase your time and speed in small increments as you get stronger; starting out too long or too fast can lead to injury and frustration.

Interval Elevated Running

In addition to increasing the incline on your treadmill, setting your treadmill to an interval training program will allow you to run at an incline for longer periods of time because of the recovery time that is integrated into an interval run. For example, an interval run might start with you running at steep incline for a minute or two. Then, the treadmill will shift its angle back to a flat surface, allowing you the chance to reduce stress on your leg and calf muscles while still running. This pattern will repeat continuously for the duration of your interval workout.

Staying Safe

While elevating a treadmill can help you lose fat from your stomach and rear end, it is important to use proper precautions when engaging in a high-intensity workout or exercise. Talk to your doctor to make sure you are healthy enough to engage in intense physical exercise. If you have had any prior leg, knee or foot injuries, make sure that running for extended periods of time at an incline will not cause pain to the injured parts of your body. If you do experience pain while running, get off the treadmill and stop your workout.
